We had a great turnout for our TCGI annual conference on 9th April 2011. I want to thank everyone for traveling to the conference, which was held at the Maudlins House hotel, in Naas, Co. Kildare. I know many people travelled for hours to attend the conference.
We had a full day for the adults and the children.
For the kids we had:
Kid's Entertainer - Yvonne from Really Grand Events entertained the children with face painting and a magic show.
Movie - "Hop" - the kids enjoyed the movie "Hop" (perfect for Easter) and then came back to the hotel for lunch.
Build-a-Bear workshop - the kids built their own bear and had lots of fun with the build a bear mascot. They made their own teddy bear to take home, with a t-shirt and also received an Easter basket.
The following is a summary of the adult speakers:
1. Mona O'Moore, Ph.D., F.T.C.D
Dr. O'Moore is the founder of The Anti-Bullying Research & Resource Centre in the Education Department of Trinity College Dublin. The Anti-Bullying Centre was opened officially in January, 1996. The Centre opened following the work done by Dr O’Moore and her team on the Nationwide Survey of Bullying at School in Ireland.
Dr. O'Moore discussed strategies that should be used for children who are bullied in school and adults that are bullied in the workplace.

2. Professor Clodagh O'Gorman
Consultant Paediatrician, Mid-Western Regional Hospital, Limerick
Professor of Paediatrics, Graduate Entry Medical School, University of Limerick
Professor O'Gorman discussed the medical implications of Turner Syndrome on girls. Her presentation will be available on the website soon.
3. Carol Cuffe, Disability Manager, HSE
Ms. Cuffe held an open question and answer session regarding disability benefits available to girls, women and families affected by Turner Syndrome. Carol had brought two publications that were given to people at the conference.
